Privacy policy

The short version

  • Your habits, journal, to-dos, projects and chats are kept on your phone.
  • There is no account. Sola gives your phone a random ID instead of asking for an email.
  • The AI only gets what a feature needs, and only when you use it or turn learning on.
  • Pact members see only the habits you choose to share.
  • No ads. We do not sell your data or track you across other apps.
  • You can export or delete your data at any time.

Who we are

Sola is run by Vlad Kotyakov, the operator of the app on the App Store ("we" or "us"). You can reach us at [email protected].

What stays on your phone

These are stored only on your phone: your habits and check ins, habit notes and moods, your journal, to-dos, projects, your Ask Sola chats, AI insights and your settings.

Sola does not back these up to the cloud. If you delete the app or lose your phone, they are gone unless you exported them first.

What reaches our servers

We use Supabase to run our servers and database. We keep as little as we can:

  • Your device record. A random ID, your time zone, your language, a code that proves the request came from the real Sola app, and a scrambled copy of a device secret. We also store your plan and how much you used limited features that day.
  • Learning, if you turn it on. With Let Sola learn from you, Sola uploads a summary of your activity: habit names and stats, journal stats and your most used journal words. If you have Sola Premium and are 18 or older, Sola also sends recent journal entries to the AI about once a day to build a short profile, such as your focus, themes and goals. The profile is saved on our servers. The entries are not.
  • Pacts. The pact name, each member's chosen display name, the habits each member shares, and whether they were done each day. Daily stats are deleted after 30 days. Invite links are stored in a form we cannot read back, and they expire after 7 days.
  • Shared habit stacks. When you share a stack, we store your chosen name and the habit names, icons and days. Links last 30 days, then a daily job deletes them.
  • Reports. If you report a pact member, we keep the reason and the name they used at the time.
  • Safety flags. If a crisis card was shown, we save a flag without any of your words. It is deleted after 30 days.

Ask Sola and the AI

Sola's AI runs on Claude, made by Anthropic. Requests go through our server to Anthropic, and our server does not keep your chats.

When you chat, Sola sends your message and the conversation, plus a short list of your habit names, open to-dos, project names and pact names, so it can suggest changes. When learning is on, it also sends your profile and habit stats. It never sends your habit notes, to-do or project descriptions, or full journal entries to chat.

When you ask the journal coach about an entry, that entry and one similar past snippet are sent so it can reply.

Anthropic processes these requests under its own commercial terms and privacy policy.

You can turn learning off at any time to stop AI requests. Reset Sola AI clears your profile and your chats.

Usage stats

To see which parts of the app get used, Sola counts simple events, like "a habit was completed" or "onboarding finished". We run our own copy of Aptabase for this at analytics.solahabits.app. The events carry no device ID, no journal text and no habit names.

This is on by default for adults and off for teens. You can turn it off in settings under Share anonymous usage.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled on your phone. We do not run a push notification server.

What we do not do

  • We do not show ads.
  • We do not sell or rent your data.
  • We do not track you across other apps or websites.
  • We do not use your data to train AI models.

Your choices

  • Export. Settings can export your habits, to-dos, projects, journal, check ins, settings and server profile as a file.
  • Delete. Delete my data removes your records from our servers, then wipes Sola from your phone. Pacts you own are deleted. Reports other people filed about you keep the name you used at the time.
  • Learning and AI. Turn learning off, or reset Sola AI, in settings.
  • Usage stats. Turn off Share anonymous usage.
  • Pacts. Change what you share, or leave a pact, at any time.

Children and teens

Sola is for ages 13 and up. If someone says they are under 13, Sola deletes their data on the phone and on our servers and does not let them in. Teens get safer defaults, which are listed on our safety page.

Security

Requests from the app are signed and sent over encrypted connections. Our servers check that each request comes from the real Sola app. No system is perfect, so we also keep as little as we can.

This website

solahabits.app uses no cookies and no trackers. It is hosted on Cloudflare. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
