Why
Why we made Sola quiet.
Five reasons, in the order we learned them.
Because most habit apps are loud.
Most habit apps want your attention. They send alarms about streaks, hand out badges and ask you to come back. After a while the app is one more thing to keep up with, and the habit gets lost in the noise.
Sola tries to do less. Your habits sit on one screen as calm tiles. Reminders are set by you and scheduled on your phone. When you open the app, you see your day. Not a feed, and not a sale.
Because your journal is yours.
A journal only helps if you can be honest in it. So your entries are kept on your phone, not on our servers.
You do not need an account. There is no email or password to sign up with, and nothing for a stranger to look up.
If you ask the coach to help with an entry, that entry is sent to the AI so it can reply. Sola does not keep a copy of what you wrote. If you want a copy for yourself, you can export your journal at any time.
Because a coach should propose, not push.
Ask Sola can suggest a habit, plan a few to-dos, add a note or tidy up a project. Every suggestion arrives as a card that shows exactly what would change.
You read it and you decide. Tap to add it, or dismiss it. Nothing in your app changes until you say so.
Sola is an AI, not a person, and it can get things wrong. It is there to help you think, not to tell you what to do.
Because accountability works best in small circles.
Big public challenges can feel like a show. A pact is the opposite. It is a few people you already trust, up to 10, who join with an invite link.
Each person picks which habits to share. The others see if you did them today and how long your streak is. They never see your journal, your notes or your other habits.
If something feels off, you can report a member or leave the pact at any time. Nobody gets a score, and nobody wins.
Because the tool should disappear.
The best habit app is the one you barely notice. Open it, tap a few tiles, close it. That should take seconds, not minutes. Then you can get on with your day.
So we try to add less. Every screen has to earn its place. A new feature should make the app feel simpler, not busier. When in doubt, we leave it out.
Principles
What we build by.
Calm by default.
Soft screens, no streak alarms you did not ask for, and reminders you can turn off.
Nothing you did not choose.
Sola never adds, shares or changes anything until you tap.
Fewer features, better ones.
We would rather do a few things well than many things loudly.
